Why
choose Mandala Yoga Teacher Training?
Mandala
Yoga focuses on creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment in which
to deepen your awareness of the body, mind and emotions.
You will expand and strengthen your personal/professional practice as we
explore the richness of yoga, so that you may be of help to your family,
friends, students/clients and community, in addressing physical, mental and
emotional issues.
This training is for those inspired to
become yoga teachers, as well as individuals or health practitioners already on,
or beginning a path or journey of inner growth and healing!
The foundation of our course outline is as
follows:
History and Philosophy
Understanding
the evolution of yoga from its roots in India until its introduction to the
West, aids tremendously in recognizing the foundation of this sacred practice as
well as the diverse ways in which someone
interprets a sacred teaching, filtering it through their own cultural background
and belief system. It also helps one to create a union between two very
different cultures, discovering the teachings offered and how they can both be
intertwined, without sacrificing one for the other.
We will also cover the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita.
Asanas,
Bandhas & Mudras
Strengthening
the physical body through the practice of asana will help us to recognize the
gifts offered by our body, of beauty, vitality, strength, stamina and fluidity.
Bandhas are locks used in the body to redirect the flow of prana or energy.
Mudras are utilized as a practice that links one's individual prana with the
universe.
Anatomy
& Physiology
Learn
basic anatomy and physiology to strengthen your awareness for instructing a pose, as well as
assisting a student who may have particular injuries. Also learn the energy
systems of the body through the chakras.
Pranayama
Strengthen
your breath as we practice various styles of pranayama, expanding the prana
required to activate one's life force or energy body, to go beyond its normal
boundaries or limitations and increase one's vibration or energy.
Meditation
Meditation
is a tool to calm and focus the mind. You will practice a variety of
meditations that you can then choose from to awaken or address a specific need
within a class setting.
Hands
on Teaching
This
stage is most critical for strengthening your understanding of Mandala Yoga and
developing your own way of passing on these teachings. It is an
opportunity to discover your strengths and weaknesses, as well as your unique
gifts that you bring to each class.
Learn
the Value of Support and Stillness
Within
yoga as within life we often struggle to ask for help or open ourselves to
receive it. Teaching your students both the importance and value of
support using blocks, straps, bolsters, balls or a partner, can greatly
deepen a posture, recognizing the support needed within the moment, to release
and let go. You will also receive instruction in Restorative postures.
An
Introduction to Ayurveda
Learn
the history of Ayurveda, the doshas – Kapha, Pitta & Vata, and an
understanding of how to integrate Ayurveda into your yoga class as well as your
daily living.
Yoga
as a Lifestyle
Understand
the very essence of yoga as you carry these teachings into your life moving from
a loving and compassionate place, opening your heart to Self and all beings
within the universe. 'How you do yoga is how you do life'.
Discovering
your Potential
Everyone
comes to yoga for many different reasons and with varied backgrounds.
However, each person teaches from what they know and this knowledge changes as
you grow and evolve into your full potential. Embrace who you are and
honour the gifts you have received along the way that make whatever you teach or
share unique to you.
